2023 NAWD Tests

  • All tests are current for the 2023 show season.
  • The NAWD test directives are designed to reward horses and riders that are new to dressage
  • Test collectives place added recognition on the importance of the rider position and use of aids and allow EVERY horse to succeed.
  • Our NAWD tests are designed to be ridden in the small or large dressage arena, allowing them to be used by equestrians that do not have the luxury of a large arena.
  • The NAWD 6 Feet On the Ground Tests and Long Lining Tests do not require a dressage arena, just a flat open area with sufficient space to perform the movements.
  • We use the NAWD Objective Judging system, designed with help from Andrew McLean PhD, to judge all of our tests.
  • NAWD judges of virtual shows are allowed to rewind and stop to review each movement. They spend an average of 40 minutes on each test, much longer than your traditional Dressage test.  This results in scores that are accurate and comments that help riders truly understand the reason for the score.
  • We allow bitless bridles and snaffle bits at all levels. Please review our rulebook regarding leverage bits and their use, and types of bitless bridles allowed.
