Leigh’s Training Philosophy:
The horse is a living, breathing, feeling animal. It is our job to recognize when they are scared or dysregulated and help them learn to be present, the safest place to be. Only then can they learn. Just as I know nothing positive can be accomplished when done out of human emotions such as anger or anxiety. When I am fully present, I can do my best to understand if my question is inappropriate to their level, potential understanding or conditioning, and if necessary, modify the question. If the question is appropriate, if they comply, pressure must be removed. When teaching something new, I will remove pressure when they consider complying. If they ignore the question, pressure must increase, if they resist, pressure must remain the same. If you aren’t enjoying the process, change it up! I try very hard to not make a training issue out of something else, like: poorly fitting tack, dentistry needed, Chiropractic needed, out of balance rider, etc.

Leigh became a NAWD Professional in July,2015
