Amanda Lane-Sommer

Amanda Lane is a Certified Horse Trainer of the Minnesota Horse Training Academy in Mora, Minnesota, “The Only School of its Kind” completing this in October 2008.

In March 2009 she was hired as a trainer at Woodlands Pony Farms, a well known hunter-jumper pony breeding farm in Virginia. There she started and rode, on average, 10 ponies a day, ranging from yearlings to five and six year olds. Amanda worked there for about three months until moving back to Wisconsin.

In summer of 2009 Amanda started training for the public and began her own training and lesson business, where she has gained experience working with all sorts of horses and disciplines.

  • 2006- Graduate and Certified Horse Trainer of Minnesota Horse Training Academy
  • 2010- Reserve Champion of Food 4 Our Horses Trainer’s Challenge
  • 2011-2017- Multiple time competitor and qualifier in Extreme Mustang Makeovers and Mustang Million
  • 2014- Placed  7th overall in American Horsewoman’s Challenge
  • 2015- Top 10 finisher at the WDAA World Show for Level 1

Horses are smart and learn easily by breaking up tasks into small steps that they can understand then building upon each step will get you results. That’s why I love NAWD and the great progression in their programs.”

Amanda and her mustang Pioneer competed in the 2016 WDAA (Western Dressage Association of America) World Show. They placed in the top 10 for Level 1

2014 was when Amanda got involved in North American Western Dressage (NAWD) which has put a new purpose and foundation she applies to all of her training.

WD Thoughts and Goals: I hope to continue to support the NAWD mission, learn and grow in my own knowledge and provide honest and reliable training for my clients and their horses.
