Evelyn is excited to work with NAWD and Dressage on a Dime to provide Western and Traditional Dressage enthusiasts a place where they can practice and be rewarded for true classical horsemenship.

Evelyn remembers when Western Pleasure horses moved naturally, with the poll and the highest point, exhibiting flowing and true gaits. Evelyn sees enormous potential in Western Dressage because she wants to see a western horse become correct in movement and carriage and to see a western rider ride through the use of their body and seat and not rely on a harsh western bit.

“My goal in training a horse and/or rider is to help them obtain the highest level of achievement that each individual can reach. Any horse and any person can do Dressage. For the rider, I teach them to have an independent seat, soft, allowing hands and a good basic, functional position. For the horse, I train them to be light, energetic, supple and responsive.”

–Evelyn Pfoutz

Western Dressage Thoughts and Goals:

“Riding and training must be made fun. When it is no longer fun there is no point in doing it. As far as competition goes, the rider is truly competing against him/herself to judge the amount of improvement he/she is making. As competitors we are being evaluated by our peers who are to be the most knowledgeable in the area of dressage. Competitions are the only indicator of our effective and correct progress. This goes for my students as well as myself and my horses. The proof is in the judging. …”

Prior to Western Dressage, Evelyn has ridden and trained Classical Dressage and has also had experience with 3 day eventing, hunter/jumper, and some western pleasure.

Evelyn has ridden and shown to Grand Prix, and can work with riders at any level.

She offers clinics, lessons, coaching at shows, creating musical freestyles (I do the music editing and choreography), and judging as an “L” Graduate.
